Torchlight Procession
Got Hogmanay off to a sizzling start with the
Torchlight Procession. It
began at Parliament Square
on the Royal Mile and ended on Calton Hill.
Once there, there was a breathtaking ceremonial burning of the
Viking long-ship as well as this year’s wicker and willow effigy.
This really is a must-see.

Night Afore International
Fantastic free entertainment on George Street from 8pm.
This year: German street theatre (flaming
chariots?), an Oompah band, lots of "colourful stilted performers" and a
ceilidh stage (including "Blazing Fiddles" who are excellent).

Turned out to be a very good move!
