Talk by Jim Buckmaster of Craiglist
The Culture of the Internet and Online Communities
Venue: University of Edinburgh Management School,
Bristo Square
A fascinating
talk by CEO Jim Buckmaster. The internet listings site has over 6
billion page views and over 10 million new classified ads per month.
It is the leading classifieds service in any medium. Yet the site
retains its public service mission, non-corporate approach and staff of
just 23. The site has no advertising and receives revenue only
from jobs/property listings in some cities.

Brunch
Venue:
The Apartment 7-13 Barclay Place, Bruntsfield
“This
is a good venue for an eating-out experience: as much care and attention
is paid to the pastry on the pineapple tarte tatin as the easy-going
soundtrack and kitten-soft lighting, and it shows. The effect is warm
and satisfying and, as the name suggests, a bit like hanging out in a
very stylish friend's pad". That's what The List's
reviewer had to say and we quite agree! I would only add that the
service was attentive, friendly and almost as appealing as the perfectly
cooked wild mushroom risotto I ordered.
