MONGOLIAN FEAST AT KHUBLAI KHANS

Address: 43 Assembly Street, Leith, Edinburgh EH6 7BQ Map

The Mongolian Feast at hublai Khans is quite an experience! In the 13th Century, it was the custom for the Marauding Warriors of the great Khans', who ruled Mongolia, to cook their food on their up turned shields over a camp fire. In this way they would prepare slivers of meat cut with the sword edge, with a combination or vegetables, aromatic oils, herbs and spices.

With these ancient traditions in mind, Khublai Khans brings you one of the world's least known, but most original dining experiences - The Mongolian Feast. Create your own dishes of food by filling your bowls from a selection of beautifully fresh vegetables on a base of rice, beansprouts, noodles or tofu. Add your choice of meats or seafood including such novelties as venison, wild boar, ostrich, springbok, zebra, kangaroo, octopus & camel.

Finally, complement your selection with a combination of sauces, oils, herbs and spices before taking your bowl over to the huge open barbeque. You are then free to either return to your seat and have your creation served to your table, or to stay and watch the Grill Chefs do their thing.

You may repeat the experience as often as your waistband will allow.

ART LOVERS GROUP
Exhibition:

Gallery: Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Edinburgh EH4 3DR Map
Meeting point: At ticket desk on the ground floor

Lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon whether you're an avid gallery goer or a very occasional visitor. Join us for a relaxed afternoon followed by cafe conversation.

"Tony Cragg’s first museum show in Britain for more than a decade, this exhibition features around fifty major sculptures, some of which are on a huge scale and are sited in the Gallery’s grounds.

Cragg has brought an investigative, intuitive approach to sculpture, using an extraordinary range of materials. He came to prominence in the late 1970s for works composed of brightly coloured plastic objects, but since the mid-1980s has worked extensively in other materials such as bronze, glass, stainless steel and wood.

Focusing mainly on Cragg’s work from the past fifteen years, this exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to see new work by one of the world’s greatest living sculptors."
