Sunday Brunch Club Update
19 September 2007

Hello!

There is so much to tell you about, I hardly know where to start! October's programme includes lots of things to get excited about (see below). We have our weekend away in Alnmouth in November. Saturday's 'My Life in Burlesque dinner' was fabulous (Stephanie and Lily White pictured right) and there's lots coming up this week too...

Coming up this week...
On Thursday evening choose between a charity race night and a charity fashion show at Mexx on Princes Street.

The charity race night has been organised by RBS to raise funds for Leukemia Research. The charity fashion show has been organised by Lynne McNicol to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.   All proceeds go to Teenage Cancer Trust.Enjoy a glass of wine and canapes while you watch the fabulous fashion show. With 10% off purchases on the evening you may find it hard to resist a bit of shopping! Tips from top fashion stylist Danit Levi and raffle.

On Friday it's another Thanks Goodness it's Friday evening between 6 and 8pm. This time we're at new bar Element at 110-114 Rose St for a lovely start to the weekend.  On Saturday we're keeping the party atmosphere going with a charity ceilidh organised by Karen Walker. Last time more than 30 members went along (pictured right) and it was a hoot.

'Bring a friend' dinners - fab new event starting next week
Friday 28 September 7.30pm at Domethong Thai
98 Northfield Broadway (off Portobello Road)
Relaxed rotating dinner where every attendee will bring a friend of the opposite sex (non-members welcome). Bring a friend, colleague, relation or partner - the choice is yours!

We tried Domethong in July and the food was fantastic. lt's just out of town and well worth the cab fare. Come and try this excellent restaurant and enjoy a delicious Thai banquet.

Coming up in October...

- 5 aside is back! Yes we'll be back on the pitch and we've moved from Sundays to Wednesdays starting on 3rd October. It's great fun and definitely worth a go. Lots of enthusiasm is the only prerequisite.

- Latin Salsa dance cruise On Friday 5 October we'll be out cruising with a Latin flavour aboard the Forthe Belle. Fabulous views and a fabulous evening out (includes transfers Waverley Bridge).

- Nordic walking Hugely popular in Europe and a great way to keep fit over the winter is returning on Sunday 14 October.

- Golf at The Clubhouse Enjoy some of the world's best courses at this great city centre location with state-of-the art simulators. Fantastic fun for golfing virgins and golfing pros. Join our group outing on Wednesday 17 October. What better way to wind down after work?

- Pottery painting at Ceramic Experience Unleash your creativity on an unsuspecting mug and enjoy a glass of wine or beer - a dangerous combination perhaps?! Wednesday 24 October.

- Walk in beautiful North Berwick What a lovely way to spend a Sunday. A beachy walk followed by a late lunch. Bliss! Sunday 28 October

- The Car Man at Festival Theatre Loosely based on Bizet's Carmen, the Car Man is sheer entertainment. Be seduced!

Alnmouth weekend break
Our weekend away in Alnmouth is just around the corner. At just £65 for 2 nights bed and breakfast in beautiful beachy Alnmouth I'm sure it'll prove irresistable to many. And why fight temptation? It's the perfect break from city life - lovely walks, quaint village, beautiful countryside and lots to see and do in nearby Alnwick. I took the picture on the right just 2 weeks ago.

The week that was...

My life in... burlesque
on Saturday was absolutely fascinating. Miss Lily White has such star quality, it was a pleasure and an inspiration to hear her talking about her extraordinary life and career as one of the UK's top burlesque performers. Rosie Cooper gave a wonderful burlesque performance too.

Have a wonderful week!

Best wishes
Stephanie
