Sunday Brunch Club Update
24 September 2007

Hello!

Coming up this week...

Bring a friend social dinner - Fri 28 September - 7.30pm - Domethong Thai

This week is the first of our fun 'bring a friend' social dinners: relaxed rotating dinners, fabulous food, equal numbers of men and women, great fun and excellent value. The food at Domethong is first-class. It's about 10 minutes' drive out of town and definitely worth the short journey. Book your place with a friend, colleague, relation or partner. It's open to everyone. It's just £20 for a 3 course Thai banquet including coffee. Invite a friend today and book your place with us for this fun evening.

Tomorrow night's filmclub film is Run Fatboy Run, Vue Ocean Terminal. On Wednesday night we're seeing Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater at the Festival Theatre for just 50% of the standard price. My friend Tanya the actress called me from London in a high state of excitement and said I absolutely must see this show. The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater has dazzled audiences from New York City to South Africa to China with unparalleled artistry. Experience the extraordinary technique, passion and inimitable style that have become hallmarks of the Ailey tradition.

The 4 star guest house where we’ll stay                    Alnmouth coast

A weekend trip to beautiful Alnmouth on the North East Coast of England. It's just an hour away by train. A lovely village with gorgeous beaches, lots of lovely walks, a quaint village atmosphere and plenty to see in nearby Alnwick, such as Alnwick Castle and Gardens. At just £65 for 2 nights bed and breakfast in this beautiful beachy location I'm sure it'll prove irresistable to many. And why fight temptation? It's the perfect break from city life. Booking email us by Friday 5 October.

Yes we'll be back on the pitch. It's great fun and definitely worth a go. Lots of enthusiasm is all you need.

More chilled out brunching, perfect for Sundays.

- Nordic walking - Sunday 14 October 10.45am
Hugely popular in Europe and a great way to keep fit over the winter.

- Golf at The Clubhouse - Wednesday 17 October - 7pm
Enjoy some of the world's best courses at this great city centre location with state-of-the art simulators. Fantastic fun for golfing virgins and golfing pros. And it's all indoors too so it doesn't matter what the Edinburgh weather is doing! What better way to wind down after work?

- Pottery painting at Ceramic Experience - Wednesday 24 October 7pm
Unleash your creativity on an unsuspecting mug and enjoy a glass of wine or beer - a dangerous combination perhaps?!

- The Car Man at Festival Theatre Loosely based on Bizet's Carmen, the Car Man is sheer entertainment. Be seduced!

The week that was...

At Thursday evening's  RBS charity race night the Sunday Brunch Club sponsored horse Mr Peacock romped home in first place. And the SBC members there who'd all backed it won £150 no wonder they're all looking so pleased! We were delighted to support this event which raised over £3300 for Leukemia Research.

The charity
fashion show organised Lynne McNicoll to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust was also a great success and raised over £2200.

Last week's
Thanks Goodness it's Friday evening at new bar Element was fabulous. The bar is just wonderful with stylish decor and a fun relaxed atmsophere. Do pop in soon if you couldn't make it on Friday. 42 people came along on Friday and it was lovely to see so many new faces too.  I've become a keen rugby supporter since bumping into two World Cup players on Friday at Element (pictured right). What wonderful sports!

Saturday's ceilidh was very good as usual with over 40 brunch club members going along. A big thank you to Maureen and John for that.

Have a wonderful week!

Best wishes
Stephanie
